anp2012
Hi All, We use acad 2013 and are connected to server. While using xref or any files sized around 10mb, the computer slows down drastically. The commands like purge, save, audit etc hangs the computer and reponse is slowed. Plz help
ReMark
What accounts for the large file size? Did you use the command line version of PURGE (the one preceded by a dash)? Have the temporary files on the server been cleaned out?
anp2012
Yes i used command line purge but without a dash. The temp files has been cleaned. Sometimes a .tmp save file is created because acad says unable to save so it creates this temp file. The large file size is because of reference files and blocks in drawings, basically piping. ReMark
Try using this instead: -purge and purge Regapps first. Then run it a second time (don't forget the dash). This time use the option All. Run an Audit too and tell AutoCAD to fix any errors it finds. Clean out all the temp files on the server.
anp2012
I tried it and should admit that some improvement can be seen . I will check the details on the command later since am packed with load full of work. Again thanks for the help. one more question - how to tune acad / windows 7 to improve performance! ReMark
There are a number of things that can be done but it depends also on your setup (standalone or network) and your computer specs.
