mandamurphy
Hello! I have a problem that I cannot fix. I am trying to use my home computer which has 3dsmax2012 installed but my laptop has 2013 (the home was given to me with it already installed).. now when I try to bring files from my laptop (even though they are originally modelled on the pc they will not open. Also materials like aec extended will not open or run. What can I do? I have already tried saving the file as a 2012 on the laptop. No PROFIT... nothing. I cannot do the work on the laptop because it is not strong enough. Also, I have checked and the files are there with the complete data but not readable. Cad64
Do you get any error messages when you try to open the files? Try exporting your 2013 work to .fbx format and then import that file into 2012. FYI: I have moved this question to a new thread. Please start new threads when you have new questions.
Raudel Solis
it's common for software to not read newer versions but newer software can read older versions if going from max 2013 to 2012 3ds max 2013 can save your file as the 2012 version about your materials your 2012 version might not have the autodesk material library installed. I'm sure you can find it at autodesk.
Cad64
it seems that 3DS from Max2013 WITH texture coordinates doesn’t load in Prefab. Prefab? What the heck is Prefab? Oh wait, this is another copy paste job from anthonyc12. This time it's from the Away3d forum, post #4: http://away3d.com/forum/viewthread/4435/
