Sweep

Hello,

been posting a view times already during this project....

Here is what I am working on:

Enseble im Raum.jpg

For being able to retrieve dimensions and angles from the drawing I started by redrawing the back rails of the bench with an rectangle profle.

This is where the problem appeared....

Sweeping worked perfectly for the lower two of the rails:

Lehen ohne Sweep.jpg

But it didn´t for the upper one....:

Lehen mit Sweep.jpg

As you can see in the drawing

Sweeeep.dwg

I put the profile on both ends of the rail. I tried sweeping from both ends - same result. (Instead when I did the drawing with the true profile of the rails sweeping worked fine only from one of the endings...)

?????

Looking forward for your suggestions!!

Len

I would just extrude the profile using the path option and be done with it. Why make it more complicated than it needs to be?

Thank you again, ReMark!! You are right, why make it more complicated.....

Still I would be curious to find out why the SWEEP of this one part did not work....

I don't know what causes Sweep to sometimes produce less than the expected result. It's mystery I haven't got the time to try and solve. When I am retired and have nothing better to do maybe I'll delve into it. Until then it is a matter of getting the job done as quickly as one can with the tools available to us. When one tool fails it's time to try another.

Use Rotate3d and pick the end profile ( rectanagle)

use mid of top and mid of buttom line and rotate by 180

then use sweep

worked for me

For a rookie like me it´s good to see that working with CAD needs the use of workarounds even if you have reached a higher level of dominating it...(-;
