2D from INVENTOR is in BLOCKs

Recommended Posts

I have taken a .stp file into INVENTOR LT - then out to AUTOCAD LT, and even sectioned from there... but everything now is in a block... so how can I now get to where I can dimension??

This is a new and difffent topic - you should have started a new thread.

Zip and attach your *.stp file here.

STEP (*.stp) is generally 3D solids or surfaces, not 2D. AutoCAD LT is a 2D program.

SORRY - I am a REAL newbie to this.

I repeatedly tried to upload .stp zipped file - but always get an error. I was able to upload the AUTOCAD LT file. This is what I got from .stp file - imported into Inventor - then exported to .dwg.

Ultimately I need to be able to get multiple sections of this part -dimensioned so that I can build it as a wooden foundry pattern.

I don't know enough about inventor to be able to get what I need there so I thought that if I could get this into AUTOCAD - then I could deal with it...

You can see in this attached file that I was able to section the part on one of the centerlines - but now I need the dimensions, radii, etc. to be able to build. Of course I would need multiple sections in multiple directions - dimensioned to be able to do this.

ANY and all suggestions will be GREATLY appreciate.
