Slice off corner

Hi,

I want to find a shortcut to be able to slice off the corner of an object (see picture below). Is there some sort of build in function to do so?

I have been manually doing this by (1) creating a square surface (2) re-positioning it over the corner and (3) using the slice command to ultimately slice off the piece and delete the excess.

As you can surmise, step (2) [re-positioning that damn surface over the corner], takes FOREVER.

So, just to repeat, is there some sort of easier command or work-around anyone can think of to do this?!

Which corner are you referring to?

Simply create three lines o-tracking from the corner (or points instead of lines), then you have a whole bunch of ways-

Slice using 3 points (3 points define a plane)

create surface using 3 points and slice with surface.....

How do I generate a surface given 3 points or 3 lines extending from the corner?

...or 3 lines extending from the corner?

Are you familiar with object tracking?

Turn on Polar Tracking (F10) if not already on.

Set your point style to a type you can see.

Start the point command.

Move your mouse to corner but do not click on corner

move your mouse in negative x direction you should see a dashed green tracking line and a box to enter direct distance from corner.

Type in the desired distance and hit Enter (I use spacebar).

Hit Spacebar again to repeat point command.

Move mouse back to corner but don't click on it.

Move mouse in -y direction and type in desired direct distance.

Repeat for -z direction.

You now have 3 points to use in several different techniques that I can think of.

So how do I generate a surface using those three points? Do I just use the surface command and select all three points?
