ok I did that no how can I trim the upper R3.5 so that the only portion remaining is what is between the top circle and the verticle line? I tried to trim it, but it says that it needs to intersect twice. Thanks for the help on the circle

Trims fine for me?

Attach your new file here.

Did you pick both the vertical line and the circle as cutting edges for trimming the arc?

I am not sure what is going on. Could something not be set up right in AutoCAD? We had a computer in class that wouldn't trim right and the professor had no idea what was going on he had never seen anything like it. Thanks for your help.

Never mind I got it figured out, I had to push shift while I selected the second one. I have never had to do that while at class, but for some reason I need to do it on my laptop at home.

Can you pleas explain how you got this?

EDIT: Looked at it a little longer.

Does this work because the 2 reference circles are 3.5 in from where they touch?

The wierdest thing just happened to me.

I was reading through the lists of posts, not having been on site for a while, and as I scanned the title of this thread, for the very, very briefest of moments, I though that it said: "drawing a circle that is tangent to another circle and passes through an elephant"
