Error In Creating Thread?

I create a thread in the AutoCAD using helix command and then do two kinds of processes: loft and sweep.

But none of them works.

Why?

Thank you

Use the Extrude command, select one of the pieces of thread geometry, select P for Path, then select the helix.

That should do it.

Did you try your method?

Yeah, it worked just fine for me. I've extruded along a path many times and only had a problem when the geometry wasn't a polyline.

EDIT: Of course, the fact that I was actually thinking of the sweep command for this and not the extrude along path command (damn you late night posting) totally invalidates everything I've said so far in this thread...

What message do you get on command line?

SWEEP command

Select objects to sweep or [MOde] :

I select one of the triangle lie at one of the helix's endpoint.

Select sweep path or [Alignment / Base point / Scale / Twist] :

I select the helix as the path.

then appears below the error message:

Unable to sweep 1 selected objects.

LOFT command

Neither selecting the helix as guide nor path were work.

The error messages are:

Modeling Operation Error

Loft surface self-intersects.

The selected entities are not valid.

EXTRUDE command

The error message is:

Unable to extrude the selected object.

I already told you the sweep method is doesn't works.

The sweep method does work - you just have to set up the problem correctly.

Attach your file here and indicate the specifications for your thread.

Is the thread "triangle" a closed polyline?

The profile problem is a little more complicated than simply "closed profile". There are a couple of other considerations for Sweep to work.

True, but the closed profile check is always a safe bet and pretty easy to do.

Sounds like it might be a geometry problem.

Is the thread "triangle" a closed polyline?

Yes, the triangle profile is a closed profile.

I can not do loft and sweep in ccreating thread whereas helix is as its path.

You can get file here:

How to solve this problem?

Thank you

I'm not on my CAD computer at the moment. Is this the same problem JDM and a couple other members tried to help you with previously?

Yes you are correct.

It is usually not a good idea to create a duplicate thread as it may just lead to confusion and frustration. Now we'll have to go back to the original thread to see what responses you got there so they are not repeated here.

I will be away from my AutoCAD computer for a week or so, but it is critical how you line up your profile with your helix and your profile must be created in such a way that it does not result in a self-intersecting sweep. My guess (without seeing the file) is that is your problem.
