For example, show as a dashed line when in coarse view, and show fully in the other detail levels? If so, how does one make that magic happen? I don't see the need to "automate" this, and I especially don't see the need for the View Detail Level to be the controlling factor but you could try and set up a View Filter if you really need to automate this.
