jiggly_jelloo
I use multiple display states in my assembly and it is starting to be a bit of a pain in the butt to have to go into each one and update it everytime I add parts/subassemblies. Is there a way to "lock" a display state to show only the components you have shown? When I used pro/e you could select items to include or items to exclude so that if in display state A you only wanted to show parts A, B and C, you could do an include so that no matter what you assembled afterwards it would only show those parts. I have over 2200 components in my assembly so it can be time consuming updating the 20+ display states I have. Thanks, Colleen
neophoible
Wow! 2200+ components. That's a lot! I assume you are referring to Layer States and the Manager for these. In AutoCAD, object visibility is generally controlled by turning layers ON/OFF/etc. Are you using XREFs? Overall, it is not clear to me if you are adding items that don't show up because they are on new layers that were not part of the Layer State originally, which would require more planning ahead; or you are adding items to the same layer, but would rather they not show up, in which case they should really be on a different layer for more control. I think you are in the wrong forum. This is the SolidWorks forum.

jiggly_jelloo
I use both AutoCAD and Solidworks, but unfortunately I can only list one on my profile. This is a solidworks question.
ILoveMadoka
Have to tried checking "Link Display States to Configurations" and in the Configuration check "Suppress New Features and Mates" and "Hide New Components" I've battled this myself...
