LREID
I have a company template file with standard layers that I need to match the layer properties of with a drawing I have already created. How do I do this? Thanks.
tzframpton
You can achieve this by using the Design Center. Type DC at the command line, and it's easiest to have both files open. Then browse to the Template file in Design Center, and Drag/Drop the Layers into the other File that is open. Simple as that my friend. Welcome to the forum. LREID
Now... how do I copy drawn elements from one dwg to another.
ReMark
Use the Copy/Paste command. Copy objects in the first drawing, switch to the second drawing and Paste. Simple.
LREID
Thank you. I was making it more complicated than it is.
tzframpton
One step further on ReMark's tip, is to Copy Basepoint, then choose 0,0,0. When you paste, Paste with 0,0,0 and it'll be in the same location between both drawings.
Dadgad
Tannar and ReMark seem to have gotten you well sorted out. There are many ways this could be done, another interesting way , which is often overlooked, is the LAYTRANS (Layer Translate) command. It enables the mapping of layers in one drawing (or perhaps from one supplier) to conform with those in another drawing (or set of Drawing Standards). Probably not as simple as the other ways suggested, but once set up, and saved, for future use, it offers advantages which the others cannot.
