AutoCAD to Tekla Structures

ReMark

Recommended Posts

I know that it is possible to take a 3D model done in Revit and bring it into Tekla Structures but can it be done with an AutoCAD 3D model? If so, how?

With Revit, depending on the version, one uses either an add-in or exports to an IFC file format.

Well a 3d object in vanilla autocad will not be the same type of 3d object as it is in AutoCAD Arch. Now if you create a 3D solid in vanilla and open it in Arch yes it is the same type of object. The 3D architectural objects in arch will be AEC objects with data behind them. Perhaps this is what Tekla needs.

mmm, I suppose that could be confusing :?:?:?:?

even though the verticals would import the dwg formats, the model properties wouldn't be the same. And I don't see vanilla on the list.

You could give them a call.
