Default Where one point on a drawing ends up on another

I use AutoCAD to draw a alot of pipes and such which often rise up through several floors in a building on several separate drawings. To check where a pipe on one drawing ends up on another, I usually just copy an object using "copy with base point" and paste it into the other drawing to see where it ends up using the same coordinates.

Is there a simpler way to see where a point on one drawing ends up on another without actually having to copy an object in order to see it?
If at first you don't succeed - remove all evidence you ever tried.
