Blocks won't show in layout viewports

Hi,

when I insert a block that is made up of different layer lines and shapes then they only show up in the model tab. The other layouts I have won't show the blocks even though the same layers are turned on and unfrozen in these other layout viewports just like the model space. It's looking like trying to use multilayer dynamic blocks will be pretty useless unless they work in every layout viewport and not just in model space.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try turning on all layers on in a layout. Is the layer in which the block entity is inserted not turned off? Select a block in MS and check the properties.

Are you using annotative scales at all? If an object is annotative but not set to the scale of a viewport then it will not appear in that viewport.

Thanks everyone.

I think I finally figured it out. I guess what ever layer you use when creating the block is what layer determines if the block as a whole will show or not. So I created a new layer called block that is always on in every layout just for the blocks, then when in edit I can assign different layers/colors to different shapes etc.

Is the the best way to go about doing it?
