vertical horizons
My object is drawn correctly in model space. I attempt to dimension it in paper space. If I use the Power Dimensioning tool, my dimensions come in incorrectly. However, if I use DIM > HOR or DIM > VER, the dimensions display correctly. Any ideas as to why this is? ReMark
Where does one find this power dimensioning tool? We aren't talking plain AutoCAD are we? Is it Mechanical?
vertical horizons
Yes. I'm sorry about that. I should have explained that we are using AutoCAD Mechanical 2013.
ReMark
For future reference - Note that there is an AutoCAD Vertical Products forum with a Mechanical sub-forum here at CADTutor. Maybe it is a system variable that has to be reset. Are you familiar with any of them because I'm not. I'm a generic AutoCAD user. One of these? AMPOWERDIM AMAUTODIM Is there anything in either that speaks to making dimensions "associative"?
SLW210
I moved your thread to the Mechanical forum.
vertical horizons
... Is there anything in either that speaks to making dimensions "associative"? Normally, I use DIMASO (& choose "ON" to make the dimensions associative).
ReMark
Has this happened in other drawings where you have used this feature or is this a first?
vertical horizons
This is a 1st.
ReMark
Can you pull what you have done so far into a new drawing? Maybe the problem will vanish.
vertical horizons
New drawing, same problem.
SLW210
Are you dimensioning through a viewport?
vertical horizons
Yes. For what it's worth, I have DIMASSOC set to 2. That way, I can correctly dimension objects while in paper space, even though the objects are in model space.
SLW210
That works for AutoCAD, but I do not think that setting affect AM Power Dims. My Guess is a bug in Mechanical, the Vertical AM Power Dims are correct?
Liltygar
I can not duplicate the problem. Here are the steps I have taken - maybe you do this some other way. I created my drawing in model. Created the viewport using the ribbon (AMVport). Click power Dimension. Ctrl and right click to select end point - select an end point then repeat to be sure I am actually selecting what I want. I get the same dimension in model space as I do in paper space using that method. You don't have to do the ctrl right click if you are paying attention to the nodes/points that you are selecting.
