vertical horizons
Looking at an Inventor .IAM, I see all of the components of that assembly. Using SOLIDWORKS, I open that same INVENTOR assembly, & save it as a SOLIDWORKS assembly. When viewing that assembly in Solidworks, several components that were in the Inventor assembly are missing. So, using Solidworks - I open each Inventor component that was missing from the Solidworks assembly; I save each component as a Solidworks component (selecting "BODY", instead of "FEATURES"); I use "Insert Components" to place the component into the Solidworks assembly. So far, so good. Then I attempt to MATE the added components to the Solidworks assembly. But, when I select MATE, I can't get any of the constraints to highlight. Is there a better method to constrain the added components to the assembly? If I selected FEATURES, instead of BODY, would that make a difference? vertical horizons
UPDATE - I deleted the component from Solidworks that was originally missing. Then, using Solidworks, I created that missing component again, but this time, I tried using the FEATURE choice, instead of the BODY choice. It didn't make any difference. I still cannot use MATE to constrain the component to the SW assembly.
vertical horizons
UPDATE - I CAN use the MATE. The highlight doesn't seem to be working, but I can constrain, using MATE.
ILoveMadoka
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking but "mating" takes place in the assembly. In the Assembly Tab, pick on your face or feature, pick Mate and all the mates that will work with that particular selection will be listed in the pane (typically on the left)
