tmurphy
I'm a returning user of autocad after using ArchiCAD for two years. It was a good program and one thing I came to enjoy was holding shift to toggle Ortho instead of pushing f8 to turn it on and off. Is there any way making this happen in AutoCAD? rkent
Holding Shift will temporarily toggle Ortho, may not be what you are after. You can assign keys in the CUI to do something like SHIFT+Z to toggle off or on.
tmurphy
That is what I'm after. I tried that but there's a slight delay which I didn't realize. Thanks for the tip.
Marvin7
I've gotten used to the opposite. Ortho on by default but shift to temporarily disable it. Either way works. Yeah, there's a 1/2 second delay.

Yeah, there's a 1/2 second delay.I wonder if there's a variable to control the time delay? Or even the registry? I searched TEMPOVERRIDES (the system variable that controls the Shift toggle for Orthomode) in the registry and found some options, but no time delay. I wonder if there's a generic time delay string value that could be used? Any programmers on here that care to weigh in on this inquiry?
rkent
You might try setting POLAR on instead of using ORTHO. I still prefer ORTHO personally but many swear by POLAR.
