    Default AUTOCAD and Hardware

    Hi,
I am new to this forum as all of you can probably see and i have a question. I have been looking around for a while now and im getting mixed answers. My question is that i am really getting into Autocad and i am taking a couple of classes in it too...i was looking to purchase a laptop that supports it. Here is where the problem comes in...some people say that pentium is better for autocad and others day that amd is better. On the other hand with the video card...some people say that Nvidia is better and some people say that ATI is better. Now keep in mind its a laptop but i still managed to find a few ones that have dedicated video memory. I know its a lot of info up here but what do you guys recommend from your experience with autocad and laptops.
    Thank You Very Much

EDIT: I read what autodesk recommends ..things such as a P4 and 128 mb or higher ...but i am just looking for second opinions for the above questions. Thank You Very Much in advance once again.

My recommendation would be a dual core Pentium system with as much physical memory as you could possibly afford. As for graphics cards, you really can't go wrong with either ATI or nVidia. Most likely they will be PCI-Express based; just get one with as much onboard vidRAM as possible (256MB would be good). You might try purchasing your laptop at one of the hardcore gaming hardware sites. Gamers put a lot of demands on their systems...right on par with heavy duty CAD users. One source would be ibuypower.com. Just my 2 cents worth. Differing opinions readily welcomed and respected.
