setting an object snap hierarchy

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to set a 'snap hierarchy' for example, I want the 'perpendicular' snap to snap before the 'nearest' since it's more accurate. I would rather 'nearest' be the last resort snap if nothing else.

thanks,

I normally only use 4 object snaps; endpoint, center, midpoint, and intersection.

For any other snap I need, I shift and right click during the command and pick the next needed snap.

If i didn't need nearest sometimes I wouldn't use it rkent. thanks though.

I think I am going to stick with the shift right click Zaphod - that solves it. Didn't know that was a thing.

I use the F keys for my osnap needs, hitting the one needed at the time. Like F2 for perp or F3 for nearest, this way you are certain that your pick is right where you want it. With running osnap you can pick in space and it will still make a pick, setting the osnap each time ensures that a pick in space will not result in a pick, instead you will see that it did not select anything and you have to go again.
