Suggestions for Modeling of a Rotational Cam

Perhaps this method will work? You could calculate the outside circumference of your cam, make a sketch with a rectangle exactly as long and as high, place curves at the right places, then wrap around the cam and subtract.

There is already a CAM Design Accelerator in built into Inventor.

You must be in assembly environment to get to the Design Accelerators.

I tried the Cam design accelerator, and quickly got lost.

However, based on your Tutorial 11 I was able to Emboss, and it worked great.

I doubt you have done it correctly.

In fact, I'll make small wager it is not correct.

 

What is the follower shape? (this is important to get correct geometry on the cam)

I knew that you would say that.

You'd win that bet too if I was foolish enough to make it.

 

This isn't actually a Cam that relies on a cam follower, but it resembles one.

I had an old paper 2D tool drawing without an Isometric view on it.

I wanted to have an isometric view of the tool in order to put it in a database.

The Iso view just has to somewhat represent the part, it doesn't need to be perfect.

We won't be using this Model to manufacture any parts.
