AutoCAD and Excel Assistance

Our problem is this:

We need to insert a block into an AutoCAD floor Plan, Each room has been sectioned off using a polyline. The block will read the Area, Length, Room names, Room numbers and a Hatch colour.

We are creating an external Excel file which we will extract the data contained within the AutoCAD block into an Excel spread sheet.

What we need is to be able to change information within the Excel spread sheet, (mostly the hatch colour) and have the AutoCAD drawing update automatically.

It’s a two way communication we are trying to create between the AutoCAD file and the Excel File.

Assistance is greatly appreciated.

I take it by your post number that your new, firstly yes can be done, getting info from excel lots of examples just search here, to change the 1 block can be done you would search out all blocks of a certain name, then check for room number, then look for a hatch at this location and change color. I am pretty sure I did the 2nd part some time ago with code posted will try to find.

Lastly do you have any experience in programming Autocad.
