2015 Civil3D Freezes when switching to model space

First time posting and I am a newbie to C3D.

 

In my layer manager under the color column, it is showing layers who color is white to be black pigment block. When switching to model space it freezes and does not regen the linework. the only way to get out of the program is with windows task manager...

 

Any idea what could be causing this DWG to do this? I have been working on it all week and of course Friday when I am ready to start assembling my sheets does this happen...any information would be appreciated.
