Dimension extension line weird behaviour

Hi all,

Take a look at the attached picture.

ss1.jpg

All dims are done with the same settings, I changed nothing inbetween dimensioning, however...

The extension lines are different. When I pull the dimension line far, far away from the object that was dimensioned the extension lines are normalise.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? And how can I fix it?

Thx for your time and knowlidge :)

My first guess is that "Offset from origin" (DIMEXO) is too large and "Fixed Length Extension Lines" (DIMFXLON) is ON.

Attach a sample drawing for an absolute resolution.

If you 3Dorbit the drawing, and select one of the dimensions without an extension line, you'll see your dimension is at 0 elevation, but the dimension nodes are at -7983 elevation. Normally, this doesn't cause a problem, but apparently there is an issue when the extension line is a "fixed length"

To fix, I think you'll have to recreate the dimensions after either changing the UCS to the elevation of the object(s) you're dimensioning, or by changing OSNAPZ to 1 while you place the dimension(s).

(both of the suggested fixes above assume the objects in the drawing are supposed to be at different elevations)
