Fatal Error bypassed by deactivating hardware acceleration - how to fix?

I've been having trouble with some "Fatal Error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading.....". After some wondering I tried to deactivate Hardware Acceleration, and that got rid of the errors (but of course now my graphics aren't as good). I would rather fix the problem than bypass it by like I've done now. What would be the next logical step?

You need the entire error message to isolate the problem. (ie Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at bcbdad73h)

What were you attempting to do when the error occurred?

Did it happen when you were working on any one particular drawing?

I've never seen the same one twice. I've taken notice of the following ones;

Did you update the driver lately? If so, try rolling back the driver or try a different driver.

Did you try running a repair or reinstall?

When did this start? What are you doing when this happens?

The Nvidia gtx 295 only has about 1.8 gig of dedicated memory. There ain't a lot of room in there for hardware acceleration.

I've updated my graphics drivers, and so far so good. Often the problem has occurred when switching between model and paper space, but has also happened out of the blue. I'll try it out and see what happens - fingers crossed

Ah, I need to update my info I see...I'm actually using GTX 680, but there is only 2 gigs there as well.
