Peachy
Hi, After many years in M&E and space planning commercially I suddenly have a need for domestic plans. Can anyone recommend a good site or sites for downloading block libraries for house plans? I'm sure I recall Acad having one built in when I was shiny new but can't find one in the 2015 I'm working with at the moment. Thanks Peachy
ReMark
AutoCAD LT comes with a pared down block library. To my knowledge AutoCAD did not although back in 2000 there was a separate piece of software by AutoDesk containing hundreds of blocks. I think that was the one and only year it was available. Free architectural CAD blocks can be found at draftsperson.com, the CAD Corner, the CADforum, and cadblocksfree. If you don't mind paying for high quality blocks try over at archblocks.com as they have quite the selection. Two other sites come to mind: bibliocad and the CAD Block Exchange Network. I think both have free blocks.
BIGAL
A lot of manufacturers have block libraries of their products do a web site search and as they want you to use their product they are free.
Dana W
If you need ICF concrete forms blocks try Nudura. It' a good product and they have 2D and 3D blocks for several softwares, AutoCad included. fo instance, this one. Be forewarned, some of their hatches have been exploded, which ticked me off a little. There also huge quantities of blocks available on other vendor websites like Andersen Windows, and Kholer bath and kitchen fixtures. 12 below grade_1.dwg
ReMark
There used to be a program called "AutoDesk Symbols 2000" which is probably what you, Peachy, were thinking of.
SLW210
Autodesk Seek You also will have some dynamic blocks on your Tool Palettes, also some blocks at C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20xx\Sample\DesignCenter, at least in AutoCAD 2011. Peachy
Thanks Guys, all great help. I am off to investigate. I think it was design centre I was thinking of, it would have been on LT possibly 2006/2007.
ReMark
Design Center is used to access content that is stored within saved drawings like linetypes, dimension styles and blocks (just to name three). It did not come with a set of predefined blocks as far as I know.

Dana W
The design center has tons of stuff once a fat database of legacy drawings is built up, but out of the box, there is a great deal of variation in what came with the installation.
