ReMark
Did you try shutting down AutoCAD then restarting it? What variables were you mucking around with? Were you making changes via the Options dialog box prior to this situation occurring?
Dana W
This may not be it, but check to make sure both NEWTABMODE, and FILEDIA are both set to .

Tharwat
I guess that the menu is unloaded or being unloaded by a user with the toolbars as well , so try to reinstall the program from the Control Panel > Select AutoCAD 2015 then Uninstall/Change then you should receive a message to Uninstall or Remove .. etc then chose Reinstall . ReMark
Have you tried a REPAIR of this installation?
DonovanPorter
no i have not tried a repair. how do i go about doing a repair ?
ReMark
It is accessed through the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features. Note: A REPAIR is not the same as an uninstall/reinstall. When you say you tried to reset AutoCAD's default settings did you in fact reset your Profile via the Options dialog box?
DonovanPorter
i used the "reset settings to default" option through windows start menu. i will try the repair, and post my findings. thank you ReMark

ReMark
Just out of curiosity when did this first occur?
DonovanPorter
i have had the programme for about 4 months of which i think it was almost a week that i had the new tab working correctly. i think it might have been a setting that is switched off, because of the curiosity of the new version. but then again i could be wrong. ReMark
Sorry...I should have remembered. I tried to duplicate your situation on my computer but couldn't. Could you swing by and show me what you did? I like learning new and esoteric things.

ReMark
You apparently came down with a severe case of clickitis. I had a manager that got it so bad he once had over fifty copies of Windows Explorer open on his desktop. What is the current value of NEWTABMODE?
