You can easily do this on a solid model but when it comes to surface model it seems it is not available! You can turn the surface into a solid using the SCULPT tool or THICKEN then use the cut in the same way us you normally use it. If you need to keep the surface a surface and cut it you are going to have to learn a new tool set. look at the tutorials inside Inventor they will show you the basics quicker than we can teach them in a forum. Basically you project a sketch onto the surface then TRIM to remove. In 3d Sketch you will find PROJECT TO SURFACE use this command to start with. Surface models save a set of guide lines that must be followed it is the same for all surface modelling programs be it Alias, Catia, Rhino etc. The learning curve for surface modelling is long so do not rush into it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
