Hi guys, I was just wondering how one goes about inserting a pdf file in a layout in AutoCAD 2007. I've been using 2014 & its pretty straight forward but having trouble figuring it out on 2007?

Thanks in advance.

There is a workaround discussed in this article by Mark Douglas.

If you are going to be doing this often then you might want to check out DotSoft's PDF-to-DWG converter and use that instead.

In addition to Remark's suggestions, if you just want to paste a PDF or part of it in a dwg (so you may trace over it), open the PDF in Adobe Reader then use the select tool to highlight the area you need, then under "Edit" click on "Copy File To Clipboard"

This can then be pasted into AutoCAD.

Another alternative: - If you want to create a DXF file from the PDF , see the last two posts in this link: -

I use AutoCAD 2009 and this DXF method works fine for me most of the time. Note that the resultant DXF is nowhere near perfect, but can sometimes help in tracing.

Thank you Manila, I was able to get my version of 14 reloaded on my computer after a crash and its no longer an issue. I really liked 2007 but there were obviously a lot of improvements in between. In 14 there is a insert PDF Underlay option in the Insert pull down menu, doesn't get easier than that.

Thanks again guys!
