bavdeyka
Please have a look at my model. I can't perform boolean substraction on it. Could you please prompt on what the problem is? http://www.4shared.com/photo/Ep01Sbdkba/mul_1_.html Edited March 6, 2015 by bavdeyka

bavdeyka
Sorry nestly, here's a download link: http://www.4shared.com/download/Ep01Sbdkba/mul_1_.dwg?lgfp=3000 I've been using this site for quite a time, but can't figure out myself what's wrong with the first link
nestly
When opening the drawing, I get a message that it's not an AutoCAD created dwg file. AutoCAD also says the object is not a valid ShapeManager solid. (SOLIDEDIT > BODY > CHECK) which I take to mean that it doesn't conform to AutoCAD's rules for 3D Solids. Unfortunately, I don't know convert it into a "valid" Shapemanager solid.
bavdeyka
nestly, this model was created in Solidworks by another person. It won't substract even from primitive blocks, such as box. So I'm sure that the problem is in this model. But I just can't find it
ReMark
Explode the solid and look at the resultant surfaces. They are a mess. Edited March 6, 2015 by ReMark
bavdeyka
Hi ReMark, glad to see you here! I tried exploding, but I can't restore the model back from the pieces after it. what may it mean?
ReMark
The "pieces" are surfaces and as you can see they are a mess. Have you tried the Extract Edges command? Maybe something could be done to reconstruct the various profiles needed to create the 3D model. I'm just guessing here though. I have never worked with something that was originally created in Solidworks. I think the worst part of the model is everything that comes after the cylindrical portion.
