Spaj
Hi Has this drawing been opened with 2012-2014? Is this not the DGN linetype file bloat problem? There is a HotFix for 2012-214. AFAIK the fix is built in to 2015>. The is also an app on the Autodesk website which does a good job of eliminating these linetypes... Spaj
ReMark already checked in post #5, said they are not dgn linetypes. Dadgad
That's pretty compelling evidence Spaj. I haven't really been following this thread, now see that ReMark was talking about the problem in the earlier posted drawing. Few things make me happier than watching a horribly bloated dwg be brought under control by getting rid of all that dgn flotsam.
ReMark
Spaj: Please note that the OP is using AutoCAD 2008. It makes no sense to be suggesting the use of a DGN hotfix if there isn't one for the version of AutoCAD a person is using.
Dadgad
In post #6 Slim says he is working on 2012 LT at work, with Vanilla 2015 on the home machine. Sounds like Slim needs to update his profile. You have been saving to 2010.
ReMark
Yes, in post #6 Slim does indeed mention he is using LT 2012. In my defense I'm blind in my right eye and can't see out of my left ear.
SLW210
The DGN Hotfix doesn't work on LT because it uses NETLOAD, 2015LT has the fix incorporated. AutoCAD LT and the DGN Hotfix AutoCAD LT does not have the NETLOAD command which is needed to load the hotfix DLL file, which means the DGNPURGE command is not usable within AutoCAD LT. However, AutoCAD LT 2015 has the enhanced PURGE functionality, so it is recommended to use version 2015 to purge files. As an alternative to the hotfix, converting a DWG file to DXF and then back again, or to DGN and back, or using WBLOCK to write a new file has the potential to remove unwanted DGN elements. Solutions for LT posted here as well. http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-DWG-files-unexpectedly-increase-in-file-size.html
slimpickinz
Was first running 2008LT, now got 2012 LT... Still cannot remove these BS linetypes no matter what I do... wblock entire dwg included. DGN Hotfix (dll netload) does not work in LT. Any other suggestions? For a reminder, I open a dwg that has all those linetypes inherited. I can copy one single line, albiet existing or freshly drawn, paste it in a clean blank 60kb dwg. I can then erase everything, purge, and still no result. Linetypes are there, and will not go away. Really would like this to go away..... getting frustrating to say the least. I can post a drawing I am referring to if need be. -SlimP
Dadgad
As I recall you have 2015 on your home box, which should remove them automagically, as orphaned bits, when it opens one of these drawings. If you download the latest free viewer from Autodesk, DWG Trueview (?), I believe that the same thing will happen, and those dgn linetypes and any other flotsam will be deleted upon opening. slimpickinz
I am actually running AutoCAD 2014 @ home. Opening this drawing in that version does not rid itself of the linetypes. I did try a variation of all the suggestions in this post. No go. WBLOCK entire dwgwould not work stand alone. HOWEVER--- This is how I got it to work... Opened in 2014 Full. purged all crap. DXFOUT. WBLOCK entire drawing. Reopen drawing... GONE! Thanks guys! -SlimP Edited June 5, 2015 by slimpickinz brain cramp
Dadgad
Glad you found a workaround. The DGN linetype killer was added in 2015. I still think you might want to download that latest free viewer, then you just need to open the drawing to fix it, and you don't need to take it home first.
