I have this thing that I created in Acad but can not get a flat version of it (except 'Flatten') but poor quality. the helical blades (to the left) is the culprit.. if I delete it everything works. but if it's anywhere in the dwg..... fagetaboutit.....! :x

sectionplane or flatshot draws a blank (pun intended btw)

Anyone have experience with this?

HelicalBaseView.jpg

Created with the BaseView command. Hidden lines layer was frozen.

I tried using Flatshot twice under two different conditions but it failed to create any 2D geometry. I have no idea why that is.

Third time was the charm...well sort of. I got Flatshot to work by separating the helix and a couple of the vanes(?) from the original 3D model. It worked on the separate parts yet failed to work on the model as a whole. Strange.

Fourth, and last try using Flatshot. Removed the helix and the result was this...

I give up.

Hey man, sort of. I did a flatten on the vanes which worked ok. Now I have to erase the vanes, do a flatshot (which works perfect) then doo an 'oops' to bring my vanes back and use the flattened ones for my plan & sections, etc. Meanwhile my model stays in tact.

just lyin, cheatin n stealin baby....8)
