We are an AV contractor, and don't have standards in place for other disciplines. What are the standard symbols for something like a card access (for a door), and different types of data nodes? RobDraw Posted June 5, 2015 Share Posted June 5, 2015 What kind of drawings, floor plans, one-line diagrams? If this is just a one time thing, keep it simple. Rectangles and hexagons around a couple or three letters will suffice as long as they are included in your legend or utilize callouts and (TYP). If this may be for future use, you may want to be a little more representative of the device for floor plans and use some of the symbology found in more technical standards. Ski_Me Posted June 15, 2015 Share Posted June 15, 2015 There's not much in the way of standards for low voltage, fire alarm, burg, or really any other low voltage system. Fire alarm does have a sort of a standard in NFPA 170 I think it is. When ever I do access control I just use simple basic stuff like CR with a box around the letters to show a card reader and MAG for a magnetic lock and DS for a door strike. The request to exit button and motion detector is RTE and of course CONTROL for the main power supply and controller unless your using a managed system then you need to show where the CPU will go. I think I tried Access Control and Card Reader... stuff that was too specific. @Ski_Me: I ended up using a simple ellipse with a number, so I could reference back to the Single Lines. We're not doing paging for this one... but we use primarily Biamp, BSS, and the occasional Media Matrix (when we're held at gunpoint).
