Michaelfourie2
When I complete drawing the cone with the open ends I make a cut where the unfolding should start. When I then click on create flat pattern a message box pop's up and tell me to use different input methods. Can someone please help me I'll attach the drawing with the post. lulumara
Click the sheet metal Defaults in order for the parts to be cnverted to sheet metal before you can use Flat Pattern command.
ecshclark
Loft and shell are not sheet metal features. You will not be able to flat pattern a part with these features. Use the Lofted Flange command found under the Sheet Metal tab. It will loft (or roll) the sheet metal thickness defined in your sheet metal default between your two diameters. It will flat pattern quite nicely then. Think sheet metal manufacturing processes, not machining, casting, etc., when modeling sheet metal parts.
