madriver
It seems that whenever I have a drawing crash and I re-start ACAD that invariably some settings and variables are lost or changed. When I restore a good profile some of those variables do not re-set to my previous settings. Am I missing something in the profile save? Thank You for any help
Dadgad
You should, once you feel everything is working as you like it, use the SYSVDLG command, to open the SYTEM VARIABLE DIALOG. At the bottom of that dialog you can SAVE ALL, as circled in the screenshot, creating a custom .svf (system variable file) of all your favorite settings, for just such an occasion. Put it somewhere you can find it when you need it and name it appropriately. If you need to restore your settings you can then use the READ icon and select that .svf file. If you run OOTB default settings then just using the READ icon should restore the default Autocad settings. It sounds like you are probably crashing while using a lisp which is poorly written, and changes but does not restore your previous settings, if something goes south, and the lisp aborts, or you hit escape. Dadgad
Do you use a PROFILE SWITCH in the Properties of the icon from which you open Autocad, thus ensuring that it opens your prefered profile? See BIGAL's post in this thread http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?90993-Load-custom-profile-at-startup&highlight=profile+switch

SLW210
You can set your sysvars in an acaddoc.lsp. http://www.cad-notes.com/set-default-system-variables-in-acaddoc-lsp/
BIGAL
Make your self a workspace and make sure if you change anything you force a resave. This often stops loss of variables.
