okay, at my company we use lots of Xref's, then we have one dedicated file with multile layout tabs, anywhere from 5 to 30. once it's complete, we have to plot all tabs as a TIFF so our superintendants and project managers can access the prints from their computer and print them off if/when needed. (i work at a construction company) so, is there a quick way i can publish them all to TIFF, WITHOUT having go go in each layout tab and change the plot style??
how i do it now, is go to the 1st layout tab, plot it, and use the "Previous Plot" in the drop down menu in each layout tab. anyways, just wondering cuz that would save lots of time of repetivness.....
AutoCAD 2005. Thanks in advance![]()

Sorry Styk, can't help.......the way you currently do it is the same way I do it.......![]()

I'm not fully comprehending what your task at hand is, but it makes me wonder about the Publish command:
When using publish, can't you bring up a list of dwgs that will include all tabs associated with it? That's what usually happens when I Publish, it gives two check-boxes, one for Model space, and the other for all other Paperspace'd tabs.
Once that list is established, you can import plot styles, if it's already established, from any drawing, onto any drawing for each tab that is shown on that Publish-list.
I may have stated what you already know, but it's a stab at a solution...
*shrugs*
meh?

Try to set up a raster plotter (say TFPLOT) on your computer. When you receive a drawing go to File > Page Setup Manager and make a new page setup (named say MYSETUP) with the Printer/Plotter name pointing to TFPLOT.
Now start the PUBLISH command. Click the radio button "Plotter named in the page setup", put a check mark to "Layout tabs".
You have a list of all layouts and near the names there is the page setup. Click the page setups and select MYSETUP from the drop down list.
You may wish also to press the "Publish options" button and select the destination folder for your TIFF images.
Good luck, I tested the way myself and it worked for me.
But as F700es says: why not print to a PDF file?
It's nice to be nice, but sometimes is nicer to be evil!.

F7 and Fuccaro, in my environment of the construction business, TIFF is and always has been the universal format due to large format scanners and ALWAYS changing prints, so no PDF's here. all other construction company's use TIFF too, and we are constantly in need of prints out in the field. if we need to send files to others, we send AutoCAD files. lots of "editing" involved in the mechanical contractor world lol.
slim and fuccaro, thanks for the input, ima give it a shot today and i'll post up how it turns out.....

Well, I am in the construction business as well and PDFs work just fine. I have sent PDF files to copy/print shops for field prints, e-mailed PDFs and scanned to PDFs. I do understand that the use of a multi-page tiff is nice but a vector (PDF) file will always look and read better than a raster (tiff) file. I have always thought that the tiff file thing was a throw back to how it used to be done and it just never changed.
Anyway, I too am looking for a way to globaly change change all layout tabs print/page settings at once as well. I have several page settings as well for each layout tab. This way I can use the publish command to print all tabs at once or print to dwf/pdf at once. If I find a way I will give you a shout.![]()

oh trust me, i would love to convert over to PDF or even better DWF, but all our other contacts and clients all universally use TIFF. VERY VERY VERY few pdf's come in or out of this office.... lol

Im in the construction business too....we use pdf's aswell.....
Say to your clients, "sorry, we are sending in PDF format from now on, as it allows us to plot multiple layouts in one pdf file..." Or simply just send them a pdf with a link to the adobe reader, I've done that before.
If that is still unacceptable....then challenge them to a gay dance off contest...the winner obvioulsy gets to choose the format!
