Importing of Layout query

Hi All

When i import a layout into a current drawing either using the following:-

Right click on Layout "From template..."

"-Layout" command

Import from Design Center

the viewports which get imported with the layout lose their vplayer visibility.

The source drawing has various layers frozen in the viewports.

When the layout is imported, all viewports vplayers are thawed.:?

Can anyone confirm if this is this normal behaviour??

Thanks

Yes, it is. When importing layout, that is all you get, the paper space objects and vports without settings. I think if you copy/paste the viewports, they retain the VP layer settings. I could be wrong, though.

Just tried it in 2015.

Copying and pasting a viewport within the same DWG file (to a different layout) does not retain the layer overrides (I suspect between two separate DWG files, it wouldn't work either)

If you use the COPY command to copy a viewport within the same layout, the layer overrides are retained.

I believe that you will need to create a SAVED VIEW which includes a Layer Snapshot to do this, although I am unable to confirm it as I am time constrained and heading to the airport.

Can you use layer states for VP overrides?

Just check "Apply properties as viewport overrides" in Layer States Manager

I added

(vl-registry-write (strcat "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\" (vlax-product-key) "\\Profiles\\<<C3D_Imperial>>\\Dialogs\\AcLayerApps:LayerStatesManager") "LayerNotFound" "0")

to my acaddoc.lsp so the "Turn off layers not found in layer state" isn't checked by default. Used to drive me nuts, I use Layer States all the time.
