"cannot offset that object"

Welcome to CADTutor. :)

The only reason it shouldn't is that OFFSET is a 2D command.

If you have modeled a 3D Solid, there are lots of things that you can do with it, offsetting is not one of them.

Perhaps you want to SCALE it? Or create a SHELL for it?

It strikes me odd that you have just completed modeling it, and now appear to be altering it.

Why not just create it the right size in the first place?

If you open your SOLID EDITING toolbar (or panel if you are using the ribbon), you will find all sorts of different options for editing a 3D Solid.

Perhaps you would be well served to spend half an hour of so, watching video tutorials on the Tutorials tab of CADTutor.

It would be time well spent.

"cannot offset that object" why? i just created a box with lines in 3d modeling and it wont offset! there is no reason why it shouldn't.
Is it a 3D BOX or a 2D polygon? If it is a 3D BOX, then listen to Dadgad and stop reading this.

If it is a 2D polygon, is it made up of plain old lines or polylines? are you offsetting to the inside or outside of the "box"?

If it is made of plain lines, one side at a time will offset, no matter what you have drawn.

One reason a 2D polygon made of a closed polyline will not offset, at least to the inside of a 2D "box", is that the offset distance is greater than half the distance between the two closest sides.
