Viewports

Some times when I open a layout of a drawing, i can select the viewport and manipulate it's size location etc. Other times when i doubleclick inside the viewport and it shows it's dimensions in black I cannot move its position or change its size. Why?

Whilst in a Layout if you select the viewport (grips showing at corners of the viewport) and you can right click and select Display Locked. It's either set at yes or no. Is this what you mean? It sounds as though your viewport display has been locked.

Or maybe its something simple!

Try double clicking off the layout in the 'grey area of the screen and try moving the viewport then.

Or try clicking the model/paper button! You might have just gone into Model space where you can not modify viewports. Beleive me its an easy mistake to make! when i was first starting that was a problem for me too!

Anyway im probably completly wrong but try it!
