When I remove my points, my point labels are also removed. So far all my workaround has been to explode the points. Is this a glitch or am I missing something? Thanks

Welcome to CADTutor

The point label is part of the point. If you remove the point, the label is going to go with it. When you explode the point, you lose the usefulness of it being a point.

How would you just display the point label, ie. the elevation with an X without having the points in the drawing. I know it's worked at another firm, but something seems not to be set up correctly here at this firm????

Not knowing how yours is set up but I've seen it where the point number, elevation and description are all on independent layers, therefore you can turn off the layer (using the layer manager) that you don't want to see. This will leave the X displayed along with the elevation.

I'm referring to a text label in addition to the point, description and elevation portions of the AECC point. I just discovered my solution with your help though. If I uncheck the toggles to not display the point, description and elevation portions of the AECC point, along with not displaying the marker, then my label remains as I don't have to remove the point as there's now nothing to remove.
