Default Changing units in AutoCAD 2000

    Hi, I'm new here.
My main question is: How do I go from taking a file with a unitless .dwg (in terms of measure, in this case its in pixels/bitmap level) and covert it to a unit (I want a pixel to be 12.05 um in pitch)? Can anyone help me? I'm still pretty new to A.C. I tried to take the .DWG into Adobe Illustrator, but unfortunately, that cad program likes to work w./ a precision of three decimals to the right (plus the programs works between a metric system and points, creating some inprecision later on). I'd appreciate any added advice or solutions. Thanks.

Welcome SKumar. 1st off AutoCAD is a vector program so there are no pixels. Your drawing has a unit setup already just not sure which. Type "ddunits" at the command line to see what it is set at. Here you can also change the units. Now if you are going from say Metric to US Standard you will need to scale your drawing as well. Put let's see what yours is set at what you want it to be. Good luck

PS. I have some experience with Acad and Illustrator so we can work that out as well.

f700es, thanks for the awesome help thus far. I did what you suggested, and its listed as "Unitless." I apologize for stating "pixels" in my first post since this is a vector-based program, but I couldn't think of what I would call it, other than just units. My next question is how or what do I do to get one unit in the drawing to be equal to 0.0125 mm (12.5 microns)? I appreciate yours or anyone's help. Thanks.

i'm assuming you're trying to draw to a specific scale - don't do that. Draw everything as 1:1, if you need to scale your drawing for printing purposes, go to Paperspace (a.k.a. Layout1 Tab, etc) and scale your Viewport using the Properties box. you can choose one of the many preset scales, or use your own. hope i'm on the right track of what you're trying to accomplish.
