dlw
Newbie here. When trying to draw a line, I can only draw from endpoints. How is this changed? dlw
Dana W
Can you expand on your issue a little bit? It sounds like either you have most of your object snaps turned off, or you are in ortho mode where random placement of lines is a little bit more restricted. ReMark
Lines can be drawn anywhere on your screen and at any angle. Maybe the problem stems from the fact that you are not paying attention to your command line. Notice that after starting the Line command AutoCAD will continue to prompt you to "Specify next point or..." until the cows come home. At some point you have to exit out of the command then restart it to draw somewhere else on your screen. BTW...you might want to stop for a moment and take a look at the tutorials here at CADTutor. Another excellent source for tutorials is one called mycadsite.com. Edited October 22, 2015 by ReMark
rkent
Maybe it is the OSNAPOVERRIDE system variable, set it to 0.
Dana W
My money is on the Line command still being active. Maybe the esc key has something wet in it.
TheCADnoob
Maybe it is the OSNAPOVERRIDE system variable, set it to 0. Now that's a fancy dialog, how would a noob go about conjuring up such a thing?
ReMark
System variables can be typed in at the command line. Or...go to Express > Tools > and click on System Variables Editor.
TheCADnoob
System variables can be typed in at the command line. Or...go to Express > Tools > and click on System Variables Editor. I've stumbled over the system variables before. Hidden gems of awesomeness, but this dialog is like a chocolate fondue fountain of awesomeness. Thanks!
