nikolanm
Hello all, I am trying to make a REVIT family database for Mechanical equipment. On internet a lot of stuff I can find in some BIM websites. But also a lot of stuff manufacturers give to download, but in STEP file (.stp) and I need to convert it to .sat first before importing it to REVIT. I have Revit 2016 and Autocad 2016, so I would like to do this through Autocad. I know it is easier with Inventor, but I don't have it, so please don't write me steps for doing it that way. For example, Grundfos on this site https://grabcad.com/library/tag/grundfos has .step files. (I know that I can find on seek.autocad.com grundfos revit families, this is just an example). Also, please write step by step how would you modify this file in AutoCAD so it won't be large because of some unnecessary lines or similar, that in REVIT doesn't matter. Thank you a lot! Cad64
To import, use the IMPORT command. In the Import dialog choose STEP as the file type and click the Open button. To export, use the EXPORT command. In the Export dialog, choose ACIS as the file type and click the Save button. As far as modifying the file to make it smaller, that's up to you. You have the files, we don't. So you will have to decide what you need to keep or what you need to get rid of.
