Another option is to put each plan view on its own sheet (one layout per view) like that shown below. Now you can use a scale of 1:50. Once again the pale magenta colored box is the viewport (no print - display locked).

So, how do I do this?

I have now added the staircase and want to output to printed format but when I go to Layout 1/2/3 etc I can't separate the drawings.

Forgive me I have ZERO training on this.

Resize your paper space layout to include only the floor plan you want to show. Just make sure to keep the viewport scale at 1:50. Viewports can be resized using their grips.

I think I'm going to have to enlist some pro help for this, I don't know how to set viewport scale or even make the drawings readable when plotted.

I have made the layout fit the paper space but now I need to add a title block and a scale to make it legible. As I clearly have no idea I think I better just get a specialist to finish it off.

Cheers for trying to help but I think I have a long way to go yet.

There are a couple of ways to set the viewport scale one of which is to use the Zoom command > Scale option and set the scale to 1/50xp. Your title block and border belong in the layout not in model space.

You don't need a scale block since the drawing will be printed to scale and the scale is noted in the title block.

To do the other two plans you could create a copy of Layout 3, unlock the viewport, pan the contents of the viewport to get the next view you want, then lock the display.

Click on the viewport. If you have Quick Properties enabled or the Properties palette activated then the Display Locked option will be available otherwise right-click and you should see it in the fly-out menu. It's either Yes or No.

Still confused here and getting more confused as we go along.

This is a screenshot of my screen I cannot see the item you're referring to.

I'm not sure this is doing anything more than getting you more frustrated with me!

Here's my two working plans.

Floorplan.dwg

Floorplan PROPOSED.dwg

Do you think it's better if I just send these to someone to sort out for me? I might make some tweaks to the model space but I don't want it to ****** up the paper space.

I think that I have done ok in model space, it's the transition to paper space that is screwing me up here.

This is a drawing from my local council website, this house is in the same street as mine, and the layout of the house is similar. This passed planning.

It appears you are not working with the drawing I provided you that I had already set up one of the layouts correctly. You like reinventing the wheel?

So you DON'T want to work with three layouts using a scale of 1:50 you rather use one layout with a scale of 1:100. Is that what you are now saying?

I remember you stating that I had not included the staircase, so I went and added it. Sorry.

I just want to use the simplest method and if that is six drawings at 1:50 then great or if its two at 1:100 then also great.

I'm just still trying to learn how to get this right really.

I'd just like you to make a decision so we can move on. That also means choosing a final paper size.

I have already demonstrated that it is possible to get three plan views on a single sheet of paper at 1:100. See the image in post #6. If the folks at the planning department don't mind squinting at drawings then 1:100 works fine for me. I have a cad system so I can always zoom in for a better view.
