Design Center Folder

Hi

I use the design centre quite a lot (still on 2002 version)

Each time the system saves a file onto the main folder, this inserts itself and gets in the way interfering with my currently neat file stack

So i frequently end up deleting this new unwanted folder

I've looked thru to see how to stop it creating this folder but to no avail, also searched on these forums for answer

Any help would be much appreciated

cheers

andy

Hi

Yes I can see it wasn't very well explained

In the top right is the Design Centre preview Cache column

this is what I want to avoid saving

It happens when the DC is open and the dwg is saved

Wait there while I get my BIG magnifying glass.

Give me a moment or two while I check something. Off hand though I know of no command or system variable that could solve your problem.

Sorry but I cannot see your image clearly enough nor can I reproduce this Design Center Cache column you speak of.

I would like to stop AutoCAD saving this folder each time

Why? If you resize the Explorer window you wouldn't even know it's there.

You could probably hack the Registry but I would be very careful doing so as it may negatively affect the way the Design Center works. In other words you may lose the functionality you have come to rely upon.

I have other folders beyond this column, so I have to resize frrequently, it's no life or death but my personal preference would be for AutoCAD not to save it.

I'll not mess with the registery

So be it

thanks for your time and effrt much appreciated

All the best

Not sure how you would expect Design Center to work properly if you eliminated the cache which I believe is responsible for the icons one sees when using it.

I don't know what that file is for but it is a fair assumption that it may be needed, at least temporarily. Couldn't you just hide the category from being displayed?

No, it just saves rebuilding the icon list when using Design Center, if deleted it will just rebuild the list. No idea why it is necessary for Large Icon and not the other views.
