Help! AutoCAD 2014 (Nodes?)

Recommended Posts

Please refer to the attached screenshot as I have no idea what to call this occurrence.

These blue marks (nodes??) started appearing on ALL my drawings since working on a shared AutoCAD file. It seems like some "smart" draughting setting but it really messes with my style of working on AutoCAD and I absolutely despise it - how on earth do I turn this setting off on all my drawings?

just a wild guess...isn't that Selection Cycling?

try pressing CTRL + W or type SELECTIONCYCLING in the command line and set it to zero

Thanks, but I'm afraid that didn't work. I have NO idea what is going on - it associates points with each other, so when I move a line for instance, it moves points of a other lines it associates with that specific line and it seems to be very random (it is not always lines touching/intersecting). Also, since these points appeared, object snap doesn't seem to work anymore - I can hover over certain intersections till I am blue in the face but AutoCAD doesn't pick up on them but only recognises these blue points?

Driving me nuts.

I see well then that must be Parametric Constraints

you can delete that if you want or you can hide it as well...

to Hide type CONSTRAINTINFER and set the value to Zero.

To delete geometric constraints, select the objects to remove constraints from and then on the command line, enter the DELCON command.

While Im not a fan of constraints in certain conditions it might be worth looking into why these were put in place especially if the shared file is shared within your company. It might be part of a work flow and it may be critical.

Actually CONSTRAINTINFER doesn't "hide" the constraints, it just prevents them from being automatically generated while drawing.

When CONSTRAINTINFER = 0, geometric constraints are not inferred.

When CONSTRAINTINFER = 1, geometric constraints ARE inferred.

More info. This also explains why certain object snaps were being ignored.
