nukecad Posted April 22, 2016 Share Posted April 22, 2016 Is anyone here a guru on BBcode as used in forums? I have been trying to get a particular effect with numbered (or lettered) lists but am having no succcess up to now. What I am trying to do may not be possible, or it may be something simple that I am missing. What I want to do is make the number (or letter) appear in bold. Eg. the standard list command. [list=1] [*] Item. [*] Item. [*] Item. [/list] gives: Item. Item. Item. But how do I get the numbers only to appear bold? (not the items, that's easy and does make the numbers bold as well). I've tried [list=[b]1[/b]] and [b][list=1][/b] and similar variations but to no avail. I've also tried messing about with the fonts, but it seems that the number always takes the same formatting as it's particular item. Anyone point me in the right direction, or confirm that this is not possible? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
nukecad Posted April 30, 2016 Author Share Posted April 30, 2016 With 190+ views and no answers I have to conclude that BBcode just isn't up to this. (HTML5 may be, but most forums won't let you use HTML anymore, for security reasons). Would have been a nice touch to have the list numbers stand out from the text. I use lists quite a bit on a disability forum, to explain benefit legislation, give alternative courses of action, etc. Some members there can have problems reading, or even seeing the screen clearly, so anything that makes the posts there clearer is appreciated. Thanks to all who took a look. If I do find a way to do it, I'll share it on here. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
BIGAL Posted April 30, 2016 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Have no idea of what your doing but have you tried using Word and save as Html ? <html> <head> <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 12 (filtered)"> <style> <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin-top:0cm; margin-right:0cm; margin-bottom:10.0pt; margin-left:0cm; line-height:115%; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";} .MsoPapDefault {margin-bottom:10.0pt; line-height:115%;} @page WordSection1 {size:595.3pt 841.9pt; margin:72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --> </style> </head> <body lang=EN-AU> <div class=WordSection1> <p class=MsoNormal><b>1.</b> Item 1</p> <p class=MsoNormal><b>2</b>. Item2</p> <p class=MsoNormal><b>3.</b> Item 3</p> </div> </body> </html> Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
nukecad Posted May 1, 2016 Author Share Posted May 1, 2016 Cheers Bigal, All I was after was to create lists in forum posts where the item number was bold but not the body text. Most forums will not process HTML that is part of a post, for security reasons, which is why the BBcode implementation of HTML was created. You can of course create lists within posts manualy with any formating that you want. It would have been nice though if it could have been done automaticaly using a variation of the BBcode 'list /list' tags. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
