Default are 3DS Max Files compatable with any other program?

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

My boss wanted me to try out 3D Studio Max, see how it works. I Built a scale oil rig. The Boss likes it, my supervisior too; but thinks it doesn't function as much more than just a presentation program for animation than a working program like Inventor. I spent 3 weeks working this file. My supervisior wants to know if any other program will open this file I started in 3D Studio Max.

    Anybody?

    thanks.

well what file format does he want? Max has a pretty good export feature. If you are just making 3d models I would look at Rhino3D over Max anyday. It is a NURB modeler and WAY less money.

the boss wants to buy a 3D program that costs less than $3,500. as long as a 3D Studio Max 8 file opens, be seen from any different angles, and can be somewhat modifed, any format will do.

    is Rhino3D good?

StykFacE, thanks for the reply. i won't be using my R2006 LT. my boss wanted me to try out 3D Studio Max 8. picked it up pretty quick. Gonna try Rhino3D. Thanks.

$900 should be much better than the $3,500 budget. lol
