M2RIDER
Is there a method for converting an alignment for a road I’ve created in AutoCAD to a GPX file? I’d then like to upload the GPX file to a GPS mapping site such as GPS X-Motion so that I can view the alignment on my iPhone while walking it in the field. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! M2
halam
I would take a look at FME then. This software is amazing in various ways. http://www.safe.com/convert/dwg/gpx/ Not AutoCAD and the different way in conversion is This open source approach in FreeCAD. It popped up in my youtube list earlier. Good luck to this conversion adventure.. Welcome to the autocad forum!
Murph_map
Mapworks from Dotsoft can export to GPX format. http://www.dotsoft.com/mapworks.htm
jammie
If u have access to a GIS package I would use that for exporting to GPX. For example, using QGIS Export the alignment string from AutoCAD as a dxf. QGis can read the dxf file and reproject to the required projection. It also allows for exporting as a gpx file. (QGis is an open source gis package which is freely available to download and use.)
M2RIDER
Jammie, Thanks for the intel regarding having access to a GIS package. I consulted with one of my co-workers and we were successful in creating a gpx file from a dwg file. Thanks! M2
