How to emboss on a curved/ spherical surface?

I am currently trying to make some tread for an atv tire.

Now i want to emboss the tread from the spherical surface.

When i attempt to wrap to the face it will not wrap.

After id emboss, i would circular, as well as rectangular pattern the tread to cover the whole tire.

Is there a way i can get this tread onto the tire?

you can see the roundness in this provided picture:

I would take a look at the samples provided with Inventor. If you select the samples project and navigate to Assemblies, Suspension, Components, Tire - 2. Open the part and see how they modeled their tire. The same method can be applied to your tire. I would use and extrusion instead of an emboss. Just my 2 cents.

Circular pattern should do what you want as said above extrude is another way. You can always cheat and use a jpeg and wrap a picture of a tire around the wheel. I know you don't have Inventor 2017 but if you did you can use the new 3d sketch on face along with the sketch driven feature.
