herguth1
I have a .dwg of a 4" valve and actuator. My customer needs an assembly drawing for a 6" valve with actuator. All he needs are the critical dimensions. Is there a way to "falsify", change the dimension text in the 4" drawing to reflect the dimensions of a 6" valve. Ex. I want to change the dimension text for The "flange to flange" dimension from 16.00 to 17.75?
stevsmith
right click on the dimension and select proporties. There is an option called 'text override'
herguth1
I right click on the dimension I don't see "properties" as an option. I'm in AutoCAD 2017.
alanjt
Type "ED" and click on the dimension text.
herguth1
That did it, thanks.
RobDraw
Don't do it. Around here, that is called "Bad CAD".
rkmcswain
If you turn on the Annotation Monitor, you'll get a warning symbol next to the overridden dim text.

herguth1
That is what we typically do. This was a one off situation.
herguth1
Around here we call it "Saving time" which of course is analogous to money. Thanks,
herguth1
Toggled it on and off but don't get the warning.
stevsmith
Around here we call it "Saving time" which of course is analogous to money. Thanks, Didn't really save time though as you had to go online to ask how it was done which surely must have taken longer than creating a table. :P:P:P:P:P:P But we know what you mean. :D:D
RobDraw
Around here we call it "Saving time" which of course is analogous to money. Thanks, Which eventually leads to: There’s never enough time to do it right, but there’s always enough time to do it over. I hate doing things over. herguth1
Well, actually, after I posted the request I went ahead and drew some lines and arrows and entered text. It only involved 4 dimensions but, if there's a next time, I'll go to "ED". Thanks,
