Deleting a Specific Area of a Hatch

Recommended Posts

Hello All...

I have a rectangle which I've HATCHed. I have a second rectangle inside the first rectangle with the HATCH.

The second rectangle I wish to delete the HATCH with in this specific rectangle area, but leave the HATCH of the first rectangle.

Basically, get rid of the HATCH in my second rectangle so it is clear.

Thanks

AutoCAD 2016

I would just erase all the hatch pattern and redo it (pick in the space between the two rectangles).

Hatch > Pick internal point or....

If that seems like way too much work for you then use the WIPEOUT command (polyline option).

So I'm doing something wrong with the trim command. The problem with wipe out is it deletes everything. On Trim, I select my rectangle with the hatch, but when I hover over the hatch area I want to get rid of, it tells me I cant trim this object (hatch)

Please tell us what version of AutoCAD you are using, it really helps since things are added over time. There is a place for that in your profile above your Location and Join Date.

The wipeout would only obscure, NOT DELETE, everything if it were applied to the larger of the two rectangles. Place the wipeout where it belongs around the perimeter of the smaller (inner) rectangle.
